Computer Issues

I keep having issues with my PC. Any time I turn on the computer, give it say 10-30 mins or less and I start getting an error:

Gen32 host or something causes a problem. Has to close. Then my sound is inaccessible. Says the audio driver is no longer there. Sometimes my Windows XP stock theme goes back to a classic Windows setup as well when this occurs. I reboot, all is fine again for 10-30 mins.

Here's some of the error details:
szAppName : svchost.exe
szAppVer : 5.1.2600.5512
szModName : ntdll.dll
szModVer : 5.1.2600.5755
offset : 00023845

MalWareBytes and AVG Anti-Virus are both (separately) returning nothing infected at this point, though I was having issues with svchost.exe and other system files earlier in the week :-\

Any idea's? Also, if svchost.exe is infected, can I download a clean version of that file and install it into the Windows folder?

You may want to try running a system restore to a previous date before the issue occurred. If it happened too far back then you may have have to run a repair reinstall of Windows Xp to repair that issue. Just make sure you don't do a full clean install or you will loose your data. I would certainly backup your important files just to be safe.

Also can try running sfc /scannow in the run command but you need the Windows XP disk that came with your computer.

Also can try running a chkdsk on the hard drive but not too sure if that will correct this issue.

Sounds like Windows XP could have became corrupted and needs to be repaired.

Thanks man. I have Windows 7 ready to install, the only issue is I have a TON of programs on my comp now, mainly for school, and I don't know where every disk is... :-\

Yeah its a pain when you only got one pc with all your programs on it.

Like i said if you can find the disk and do a "repair" reinstall of windows all your programs "should" be fine.

But installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 be great. Just have to reinstall all your programs.
