Finally got to the track (swapped rs)

Well I'm not a huge fan of drag racing but finally caught the bug to go.

Car- 1999 2.5 Rs

Engine- 2004 2.0 wrx engine.

Mods- Short ram intake, 3" catless exhaust, tgv deletes, ebay intercooler, gm boost solenoid, vf34, tuned. The prior map put down 287 whp and 254 wtq. The mapped was tweeked a little after that but shouldn't really be that much different.

Keep in mind I only took my stock set up to the track twice. This is the first time I've been to the track with the swap set up.

This was my second to last run of the night before they closed. All the runs in between were me using my launch limiter set to just a tad over 5k. I was only using half throttle on the first one off the line and the crappy runs in between. I would bog like crazy. I finally got fed up and went full throttle off the limiter and got enough spin to not bog. My last run I missed second....booo.

Now I can't wait to get back. My slave was acting goofy and my clutch kept sticking to the floor. This was making runs with a 15 min break in between or so. The last three runs I ran back to backs. Didn't pull any seats, tires, jacks, or anything like that or even ice down my intercooler like I see everyone doing. haha. I'm confident I could grab a 12.5 at least. Not bad I guess. Next finish my sti engine and I've really been looking at an hta68.

No flat shifting....I don't drive a honda. I shift fast and hard. No granny shifting and double clutching here. On a side note though I didn't realize how bad of shape this turbo was in. It's starting to smoke just a little on top of leaking externally.

Well smoking isnt good. When i first bought my car the owner said the turbo was smoking and needed replacing...BUT after 10k on 14 psi the turbo never smoked and still pull hard as hell for me. The turbo had 200k on it but had zero shaft play, absolutely incredible. i dont flat shift either nor do i granny, id like to think that i shift rather fast.

We should have a shifting race. I will destroy you. It isn't a major smokage yet. Just a little when first starting it up and if I let it idle for a little you'll start to see it.

are you running the rs trans or wrx trans with that. that swap is almost as fast as my 16g wrx was lol. i would love to swap my gc it it could net me 12s with bolt ons.

That is doubtful...though you DO have more experience handling a small stick then i do.

Smoke at idle is not good.

Lgt gears with the 3.90 ring and pinion.

Got the launch down second to last run. Think I would have faired a little better with a higher launch limiter.

4.11's. But I kept the 3.90 ring and pinion so the final drive the same. First and second are slightly longer and the rest are the same ratio as the wrx.
