My Ride:
Hyundai Tiburon GT 2006

iTrader: (0)
My Experience at Fuzion Auto [Havertown, PA]

Website is: http://www.fuzionauto.com/

I came in a little over a month ago. I have a Hyundai Tiburon GT 2006. I have a Borla catback exhaust and had an Injen SRI at the time. I failed emissions because of running too lean (P0171). I did not have my stock intake available.

I went to him for him to fix it. He knew what I wanted, to pass emissions. He tried a bunch of things that afterwards I found out were basically pointless. Replaced the o2 sensors. Apparently turned down the wattage on my stereo, which I hear is impossible. Had a guy come in to give me a $350 tune, that I would only have to pay for if it fixed my car. Well, since he ended up coming back numerous times as it did nothing, apparently the money was unable to be given back at this point.

He had my car for 2 weeks. Wasted many hours of my life; for example, telling me everything is ready and for me to go back over to Tires Plus to get my stickers. Came to his shop in Havertown, gave him $651, went to Tires Plus, and failed. Brought it back to him, and he ended up buying an AEM CAI with another $250 I gave him. Didn't fix it. I got $200 back, though he again stated I would only pay if it fixed my problem.

Lastly, he told me he fixed the check engine light and it didn't come up any more. Great, I thought. It ended up after I brought it to Conicelli, my dealership, the tab was detached from the back of the bulb so it couldn't light up regardless (I didn't realize that when I started the car, it didn't come up, but the dealership did). So, lost $800 to him. He is the only person that works there, name is Rich.

Moral of the story: Paid $800 for him to unattach the lightbulb tab which I paid for to get fixed at the dealership; they bought the stock intake, and passed my emissions.

Rich, if you'd like this posting taken down, I'd like 50% of the money I gave you back. You worked on my car for the 2 weeks I had it and I know time is money, but that time was meant to fix a problem my car had, and that wasn't accomplished. As you stated, "I can only charge you a diagnostic fee if I can't fix it", offering $400 is more than compensation for that.

Feel free to post or send me a message if you have any questions or comments.

Wish I would've seen those strories. Just had seen good reviews about him on here and such. Guess I can just take him to small claims. Still have the receipts and everything, all his voicemails... I'll give him a week from today and see if he wants to keep it out of court then will submit it if I don't hear from him. Luckily my uncle is an attorney so it shouldn't be too difficult.

If your CAI made your engine run lean, then your in for a bunch of problems down the road because your **** isn't running right.

He means an intake shouldn't have been making you run lean so something else must have been contributing to it.

Well after the Injen SRI was replaced with the stock intake it was fixed, so I assume it was that, no?

Oddly enough (dunno why I know this) but this isn't the first story I've heard where an intake on a V6 Tiburon has thrown a CEL. I think the aftermarket designs are screwing with the MAF somehow.

Size of the maf housing/placement changes the voltage/gram frequency from idle to redline causing fuel trim to try and even it out. on most cars once the fuel trim between long and short term hits +/-20% the P0171 lean code will pop up. spectre makes a diffuser kit for 20-30 bucks that would have fixed your issue.

on another note...be sure to have all your information and get legal advise, he owes you quite a bit of money for misdiagnosis and i know i would have a field day in court with him.

I was going to say that place sounded familiar. I don't think I would trust that place with my money though. I remember he had that one Supra several years ago that everyone was impressed about. I wonder where he got that money from.

Had issues with a place years ago called Performance Factory NYC. Guess they got a bad. They charged me close to $500 and didn't even fix the car.

I went back to tell them and the owner literally got the mechanics ready with wrenches to cave my head in. Said I needed 10 grand in engine work. It was a SOHC motor with stock internals at that point. Asked him how a motor worth $1000 could possibly need 10 grand in work, accused him of putitng on a show for the customers still in the shop.

Turned out the problem was a $1 pvc valve. RPM in queens I called the guy and told him what the car was doing. He said oh yeah just replace the PVC valve on the intake. Fixed!!!

Guess how I hired to build my motor a few months later?

Problem with imports is they are so popular these ****ty shops can pop up and disappear over night.

RPM is still going strong 10 years later. Performance factory closed it's doors about 5 years ago I think. Wonder why?

Giving him 4 more days after today. Already have everything put together and written up. Talk about a waste of time, on top of the amount of time I already wasted. Props to Conicelli, at least.

06-08 are more restrictive with the MAF. Our cars are a little like Korean Ferrari's ;) I just ordered an Injen SRI w/ MR Tech. so hopefully it won't throw any codes. Will know somewhat soon when I install it, reset the ECU, and... wait. Will me luck, fellow-Tib-driver, haha.
