Quieting your exhaust- some good info

Dynomax has a new muffler with a throttle plate setup in the muffler.
looks like it does a great job of keeping the exhaust quiet at idle and low rpms while not effecting performance!

Not a bad idea really.

I tried to quiet down my porsche but with the air cooled fan and ITBs even with a quiet muffler it's still freakin loud as hell.

Sparky, when you drive your "performance" car over 70 miles a day, for 5 years, the constant hymm of the exhaust gets old. Or maybe I'm just getting old.

Your just getting old :-) I've had mine on the GTO for 2 years now, its my DD and I drove an hour each way and it really doesn't bug me at all. To be honest, I dont' even notice it anymore.

I was able to get a quiet performance exhaust for my gxp. Of course it goes thru a turbo, performance cat, resonator, then the muffler. Has a real nice rumbling sound.

so its the equivalent of an electronic cut off?

cool that a company is installing it so that it lasts long and is properly done (assuming), but it's old technology

Bingo. The drone of the 2.5" Burshur on my 1G just grates on me at 70. I wound up putting my interior back in just to dull it down some.

(EDIT): Now that I think about it, don't the VW R32s come with these valves stock? Very cool idea NTL.
