You can't notorize a title unless it is signed in front of the notory. They do this so people don't fraud the signature. It is only like $5 to get a notorized signature at most places anyway but I'm guessing the turned you down hense why your here.
My advise to you would be to have the origional owner order a duplicate title and do the transfer correctly this time. Hopefully he is a cool dude. Sounds like it is gonna be a PITA. Last edited by jpalamar; 01-12-2010 at 09:30 AM. |

yeah it's going to be a PITA. i doubt this guy will go through the hassle of ordering a new title. I may go to the notary with the seller and see if a notary is willing to do an affidavit of some sort because the seller already signed the back of it and I haven't.
EDIT: I just called NJ DMV and I asked specifically if I want to transfer PA to NJ they said it doesn't require notarization. Some states require you to follow previous state title rules but NJ does not. I'm going to have my dad do the transfer who lives in jersey since I haven't signed the back of it yet. Just a lot of hassle and paperwork still. Last edited by blkmz3; 01-12-2010 at 12:57 PM. |

Even if I get in touch with the seller and he applies for duplicate title he still technically owns it and can say yeah it's still mine. I don't trust that. yeah well I guess I'm screwed. Might just part out the whole car.

you are probably right. im just stressing out and tired of dealing with it. I spent too much money into it and i'll end up parting it out. It was my mistake for not getting it notarized at the time of transaction and im paying for it now. i'm going to hit up the NJ DMV in person this saturday and see what happens. if you are correct which sounds right i'm at a deadend.

I know how you feel. I actually bought my GSX-R off a corworker last year. He has the title in hand along with the letter from his bank stating the lien has been paid. We went to a notory and did the title transfer. Never received the title after a few motnhs. I called PENDOT and they stated we signed the origional title and that the bank requested a dupliate adn we needed that one to finish the transaction. Well, he deployed with the army so it took months to track him down, then we I finially did, it took him a few weeks to get it, then he got it notorized on his base and mailed it to me. I signed at the notory and mailed it certified to PENDOT to finish the transfer. Now I have my title and its all good. But it was a PITA.
I belive with my research I was doing that you can get a judgement that you bought the car and dispute that info with PENDOT and they will issue you a title in your name. Not sure of the exact virbage or process. I'll check my desktop at home and see if I saved any of the link for you. I researched this because I wasn't sure if I was gonna find him. |

yeah I called Penndot and there is a special form to fill out with proof that you tried to contact the seller. If all failed they would require me to apply for duplicate title with documentation that seller was not responding with non responded mail letters etc. thanks for your help man.
