building my first comp, need help

so i decided to build my first computer, i dont know much about them, all ive ever done was change memory. i need some help picking some parts, its sort of a budget build, trying to keep it under like 700 without a OS. i can get vista or xp for free from school. i would like to give 64 bit vista a try.

so far i have:

intel core 2 duo e7300 2.66 ghz lga775
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115132

asus mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131347

4gb ram corsair
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145184

and a 500gb WD hd
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136178
dvd drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151173

i still need video card that is pretty good(DVI/HDMI/VGA), dvd-rw drive, case, and i dont know wat else. ive heard to use a different heatsink and fan than the ones included from the cpu. i was planning to get a case wit a power supply. i would also like a wireless card in it

can someone help me out here?

if you want to take advantage of all 4 gigs of that ram then you will need to run a 64bit version of windows.

No, 32bit processors can address 4gigs, but once you start going over that you need 64bit.

I have a single ATI HD4750 right now, cost me a little sound of $200 and it runs fallout 3 on max settings without a single hitch even in fights with like 10 super mutants trying to rape me at once.

So far, some good parts listed out, though I am more partial to AMD Processors.

For a DVD-RW, Lite-On or Plextor are solid choices. Any more though, they are all pretty cheap to get, so I wouldnt worry too much about this one.
Video Cards - I'm rocking an ATI Readon 1650 Pro, and haven't had too many issues with it, aside from the drivers for Vista 64bit.

Also, if you want the best sound, look into a different sound card. On-board sound just is not as good as one being supplied from an expansion card.

If your not gaming, or doing anything insane for photo/video editing, that should be fine. I don't game too heavy on my machine either, and I have a similar card.

Though, once Diablo III comes out, I'll need a good video card.

Thats why I usually get something near-top of the line, then in about 5 years, do it all again.

Dont bother buying another heatsink/fan. The intel ones you get with your processor are actually pretty good.
As for the video card, get anything from Nvidia. The model you buy will all depend on how much money you want to spend on it.
