It took quite a few years, but Subaru finally built a WRX STI that's faster than a secretary's car that bounces off the 112 MPH speed limiter down the straights. The new WRX STI ran a 3:10.5, finally beating the 2011 V6 Mustang's lap time of 3:12.5. I wonder if the V6 Mustang would be faster than the STI if the speed limiter was removed?

The amount of technology and the huge DOT legal race tires on the new Camaro Z/28 allowed it to run impressive lap times. The Camaro comes with 305/30-19 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires. Its tires have a 60 treadwear rating. That's a lower treadwear rating than the Pilot Sport Cup tires I run at the track!

The Porsche 918 is amazing. Also the 911 Turbo S might have run faster lap times if it came with the optional tires.

The lap time list is probably on Car & Driver's web page, but here it is for all the lightning lap events. It doesn't seem to copy and paste correctly.
