the new kittens

forgive the camera phone pics...

also, still waiting for one of the other to go from my phone to the internet.

Anyway, here is Ty asleep on me...

Pan will be pictured soon...

Both are named, though shortened, after Thundercats...

Tygra and Panthra... but I'm too lazy to use multiple syllables when talking to animals

her name is Moss. She's 4 years old now. Before bringing her home I was able to visit the breeder every other week and hand feed her and the rest of the chicks. So she's very tame, but doesn't like women. She's not a normal Senegal either, but an orange breasted (instead of the usual yellow)

I think when I've got a larger place... ie: a house I'll be purchasing a caique. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caiques

Though, my next household purchase will be a larger cage for the bird and a stolmen ikea storage unit to turn into a cat tree (that looks good) http://www.niksa.net/kiipeilypuu.html

At least now I don't have to worry about purchasing new/nicer furniture till the cats are older and not scratching and playing on everything.

there is no smell... except for when one of the kittens takes a dump... but that's because they're using an open top litter box, kitten litter, and eating food that has a ton of nutrients in it (so their **** smells doubly worse)

As long as you keep up after them and be responsible about keeping stuff The bird doesn't smell... her **** doesn't stink one bit. Just gotta change her water every day because she likes to dip her food in it... and leave it there. And you gotta change the newspaper often b/c the water and food refuse like to = mold.

I've smelled worse coming from people homes that don't have any pets...

Besides, it only smells in here when I'm actively making beer.

My place stays fresh... if I even get a hint of nastiness I cover the bird and light a scented candle.

Nah, I would have everything cleaned up and probably moved into the bedroom.

And there hasn't been a party, yet. It'll probably be some time before I have one since I still have **** just lying around as I have no where to put it..

I think my next animal purchase will be building a vivarium in a 40 gallon tank w/ water in it approx 1/4 up and covering 1/4 of the base. Not sure what kind of fish I'm going to put in there though... something neat that hopefully a gecko wouldn't eat ;)

I've been around fish tanks that smell though... so I'm thinking of steering away from a full fish tank. At least the vivarium is pretty much sealed up w/ a glass top to hold humidity.

But that's not for a while now... I don't need a small petting zoo here...

That's funny, Bill has 2 Senegals and the girl "Bitty" does not like women either. She lunges at me when I go near the cage. My parents have a Senegal also, and they have a caique! He's a crazy bird...

haha that's pretty cool. Didn't know anyone else on here was into birds.

I got into birds in the usual course, buggies, over 10 years ago. Wanted a senegal ever since. Bought her for myself as a birthday present.

Caiques kick ass... but they are expensive around here... I don't have the room in my apartment for another bird... but eventually I will have one.

I found one at a local PetCo for like 1500... bird was a year old... as tempting as it was, 1500 is way to much. I remember seeing ads for 1200 a number of years back, and breeders in georgia selling them for $800.
