Honda s2000CR?

Just wondering if anyone on TST has or knows someone with a S2000CR ?
i was watching motor trend on speed they did their series of road course test on this with i am assuming a 07-08 s2000 CR, basically a track ready s2000, its lighter, stiffer suspension, comes with a hardtop, and some other things i cant remember. CR is priced at $36K+...worth it? anyone ever see or drive one of these. i am not buying one or anything but maybe in a year or two, just looking for any TST experiences

i don't think it's worth it..you could buy a brand new s2k and add a hardtop, strip it, and get a whole new suspension for cheaper.

No, not for cheaper, perhaps about the same price.

I have seen one and driven one. I personally don't like it. You get the hardtop, yes, but you don't get the soft top. It has a different interior, revised suspension geometry, different wing, radio is an option. The engine has not been modified though.

No AC, no Radio... they called that "weight savings."

Different wing on the back, hardtop, better suspension... same motor.

Blah. Sales on these suck to boot, let alone the CR. It's just not going anywhere.

My pop and I talked about this, in our opinion, if the S2000 is to survive it will need to be turbocharged to keep up with the competition.

Relax, bud. When the dude with a drag Honda and a boosted daily that has had fast Honda's for years AND fabs his own parts tells the new kids on the block that they're doing it wrong, it's time to step back and learn something.

not that is makes it worth it, but they also said they removed the sound deadening material help lighten it so its louder in the cab...kinda lame

the s2k is a fantastic drivers car and will always be such. i respect them. they were makin 240 hp from a 2.0l in 2000....even today thats insane....one of the highest non turbo hp/liter engine to date....(not including another obvious engine im thinking of....)

they are around low 14s in 1/4 mile thats great for what it is....its $35k slow or $25k fast....think of it that way

radio, ac, and sound deadening are easy and cheap ways to make an oem car lighter. if i recall the Cr is like 200 lbs lighter....thats a lot.

and no its not worth the money, and no they dont sell well anyway but remember, how many manual trans rwd converts are ya gonna sell? they are impractical, expensive and slow (for the $).

also remember its been out for 9 model years...it was due for a redesign TWICe so far.

i read somewhere that this is like the last hurrah for the s2k as it will be retired soon and the Cr was a great send off b4 it left. remember that all great models die with the last yr being the best....

the last e46 M3s in europe were offered as a CSL package that was hardcore version
same with the last rx7s were offered with a spirit R pack...
evo 9 MR SE or whatev
GT-R R34 Z tune

etc etc etc.

i dont think any ppl on tst own the CR but buyin a used s2k and throwin slicks and coilovers will yield u better results.

Its only 99 lbs lighter. Not a huge improvement IMO, but I guess with all the safety and emission requirements, one cannot expect a larger factory weight savings.
