Couple SR swap questions...
My plans are to put an S13 black top into my 98 240. I was planning on going with the Greddy M-Spec FMIC kit, which comes with all the piping. However, the S13 kit is made for an S13 chassis with an S13 motor, and the S14 kit is made for an S14 chassis with an S14 motor. Does this mean that neither kit will be a direct bolt on? Either way, im going to have to have the coldpipe modified to fit, right? Also, which hotpipe do i need? The hotpipe isnt included in the FMIC kit. I would assume that they are engine specific (meaning I would need an S13 hotpipe), but I figured I'd check first. Oh, and I plan on going with electric fans. Do I need two? Is 1 14" fan sufficient? Or should I get two 10-12" fans? And how would I go about wiring them up? (aka, what do I wire them into?). I'll be using a Mishimoto aluminum radiator. Thanks for any help!

The throttle body on the S13 is lower and it directed upward. The S14 SR is higher and is directed striaght. So the pipe is gonna be diferent.
The cold pipe is relativly the same on an S13/S14. I'm running 2 12'' fans on my SR. I wired them up to a switched ignition signal. Just make sure you run a relay becasue they draw a significant amount of power. I want to run a temp sensor for them and also a manual override but I need to get around to it. |

you just said the cold pipe should be relatively the same, after telling him the tb locations are different lol
I think you meant the hotpipe should be the same ![]() as for your fans....while its nice to remove the clutch fan and run electric fans only, its more practical to run electric fans along with the clutch fan. SRs are not immune to overheating as for your choice of fans, pick up and pair of FAL slim line 2500cfm or higher puller fans....unless you don5 have a/c (then pick up puller fans). run them with a thermostatic switch and throw in a colder temp thermostat (nismo is reasonably priced) and a 1.2bar (18psi) rad cap and you won't have to worry about cooling at all - Daniel

please... if the question is about a specific car, put it in the specific car section.

I've had no problems with my 2 12" FAL fans yet. I'v ran the car through it's paces and my coolant never temp got over 85celcius. I'm also runnning a NISMO thermostat. My main reason for removing the clutch fan was because it kept taking chunks out of my hands. I'm allways tinkering with the engine while it's running. That stupid fan hurts! |

1993 to 2001 Nissan Altima or 1995-1999 Nissan Maxima They are twin fans, and outwork any of the aftermarket fans out there. To make it even better, they come pre shrouded, and require MINIMAL trimming to fit. Plus it looks OEM. Some guys have even wired them up to work like oem! I used a Derale Fan controller with mine....they are both off, one fan comes on at 180, and the other one comes on with a switch (for track days). It also has an AC provision, so when the AC is on, the fans come on (works much like the OE setup).

Altima fans were actually what my plan was. The only thing im concerned about is wiring them up. Im NOT a wiring wizard. (sending the harness out to be done). What is a thermostatic switch? I dont want to have to manually turn the fans on when the car starts to get hot- with my luck, i wont notice it until its too late. I want them to come on automatically when the car reaches a certain temperature. I guess i just answered my own question... thats exactly what a thermostatic switch is... isnt it?
That Derale fan controller sounds like what I want... and $43 I can actually afford. Thanks!

Hehe, essentially. The Derale one is super cheap, and was extra appealing due to the AC fan on ability. Wiring them is super easy, and I used twin 30amp relays for each side. On FreshAlloy, in the 'Best of' Section, there is a wiring guide on how to hook them all up. If you have any further questions, just ask away :D

Spacers will work fine, but you should look into upgraded wheel studs (IE: Longer) if you go over 10mm IMO.
