Clutch for 05 STi

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but not sure where else to put it. The clutch on my car is 'finally' on its way out at about 50k miles. It started slipping in the low gears a couple weeks ago, but now it does it in every gear. Anyways, my question is, should I go with an OEM clutch or an aftermarket one? The car is Stage 2 with the Cobb Accessport which is approximately 285 awhp. I don't plan on doing any more modifications at this time, but may want to down the line. Will the OEM hold up at 350 awhp (as this is probably as far as I would go if I do modify it again) or should I go with something like Exedy? I don't want the ACT bc the one I had on my DSM only lasted about 15k miles. Thanks for any input and if this is the wrong forum, please move it.

I'm rocking an Exedy stage 2 clutch with and Exedy lightweight flywheel. It's lasted me about 45K so far. I had it thrown in over at Area1320 and Ryan did an awesome job.

thanks Don.

for the OP. We have always used ACT and NEVER had a problem with them lasting. In DSM's they can be pretty harsh clutches..As you know Subaru's are mainly all we do and ACT's seem to always handle what ever we throw at them.

The OEM clutch will hold over 400whp. Its all a matter of how you treat it.

Cobb stg 2 on an STi is only 285? I thought the car was 300 stock?

The numbers he is quoting are wheel HP, the number you are refering to is the engine HP which is before the drivetrain loss and such.

Exactly. I heard, I think from Cobb's website, that the STi only makes 239 awhp stock. That's a big difference from the 300 at the engine.

If you want a good clutch with better pedal feel, ACT Stage I is great. I have that but I have also drove a twin disk exedy and if I could get that in my car I would. A lot heavier pedal with a very precise engagement.

The clutches that I use without any issues are the South Bend Clutch DXD OFE series. They are exedy discs with their pressure plate. They last amazing with a ton of drag racing passes on them.
