when youre in the other country, you can go to their banks and exchange them. thats how it works in canada atleast. it might be some kind of special american bank, but im sure they will tell you where you can do it. some places accept american currency too.

i think but i'm not positive. you just take American money over there, and they will exchange it for you. just make sure you know the exchange rate to make sure it's all there.

i think it's $1 euro to 1.29 american or something like that

i know for sure that some countries treat american money like gold. like mexico and the southern american countries.

I think as soon as you get off the plane in the airport, theres a place to do it at. Thats how it was when i went to Itly.

You should call your bank/ATM and let them know you'll be travelling and see if your atm card is cleared to be used out of the country. ATMs are a great way to get cash at the best exchange rate, but if you cant find one, or cant find one that works with your card you might be stuck. You can use a credit card almost anywhere, but of course for small purchases that may not be possible/logical.
If you want to play it safe, talk to your bank about getting some cash exchanged ahead of time, but the other option is to plan on exchanging some cash in the airport as soon as you arrive.
This is one thing I have plenty of experience with...

I was in Dublin for a long weekend and I had a freakin blast. They know how to party...

Like Troll said, different places have different fees when exchanging currency. Make sure you don't get charged an arm and a leg.

Every airport has currency exchange places scattered all over also. Whether it is here or in another country.

I wouldn't let the merchants exchange your money they will rape you on exchange rate. I've never had a problem in europe finding an ATM, but I haven't been to Ierland. Also the exchange rate changes daily so keep and eye on it through out your trip to keep inside you buget.

Don't do it at the airport, it's a ripoff.

Just use your credit card. They will automatically convert it for you.
