HTC Thunderbolt Update - In My Hand...

So I got it. It rocks. Or it did... For the first 45 mins all was good. Now, my internet, weather widgets, etc., will not work. I can make/receive calls, and texts. I've been on the phone with Verizon for 33 mins and 30 seconds so far.... They have me talking to a 4G specialist now.. and he just put me on hold. Anyone else pick up one of these and having issues? Other guys here at work with Verizon are able to browse with no issues.

As to the issue, kinda sucks. Wouldn't be shocked if the phone is updating among the servers.

FWIW: I did a hard reset, reset the factory specs, and it works now. But for how long?! It's a great phone so far, when it works! I got it for the 8 megapixel camera honestly.

Considering the Thunderbolt, which came out today, is Verizon's first 4G phone, I am thinking it will be some time before the 5G is seen...

I will bet money that the new iPhone coming out this summer will be a slightly faster(perhaps even dual core) iPhone 4(think of the 3GS after the 3G came out).

Apple is a company that prides itself on user experience and quality. People are stupid. Cellphone users are stupid. So, they just like to engineer everything stupid-proof on their side. This means waiting until 4G radios mature so they don't destroy legendary iPhone battery life.

I was almost dead set on the Thunderbolt. However, I've had my Droid for a while and it gives me so many problems. I don't have many apps, either.

Probably won't be too much longer with Verizons 4G network

Lets get something straight: None of these networks are 4G. It's a marketing scheme.

Verizon is true 4G (When you are in the right area). There is one other network as well that's true 4G. The other's are like "3.5" lol.

Ok, lets go down the list of requirements for "true" 4G. Let's also remember that LTE means the Long Term Evolution of a network into 4G, 5G, 6G networks.

-Based on an all-IP packet switched network.
-Peak data rates of up to approximately 100 Mbit/s for high mobility such as mobile access and up to approximately 1 Gbit/s for low mobility such as nomadic/local wireless access, according to the ITU requirements.
-Simultaneous data and voice.
-Smooth handover over networks
-Multiple users per cell

As far as my geeky mind understands current LTE deployments only support one of those features(multiple users per cell).

LTE and WiMax are 4G candidates, not 4G networks.

When Apple releases the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4G/4GS it will probably come to Verizon as well. It's not the iPhone 5G which some people would like to think. That's why I knew people would be screwed for all of them who went out and bought an iPhone right away for Verizon. If they knew anything about Apple and what they do, they would know every year right around the June/July time is when the next gen comes out. All of these people will be pissed because they missed out. The new iPhone will have ATT 4G without a doubt, as well as some major performance updates.
