Title question

Im trying to get some extra cash on the side to save for a house. I'm parting out a 00 Jetta i got from my neighbor now and its almost done and i'd like to get another car asap to do the same. He had the title but i told him to keep it and shredd it because i was only going to part it out. I also didn't want to spend money on transfering it. Would this be ok for the next car i get? What else should i do if not. I will be paying cash for this like i did with the Jetta. I would need to drive the next car to the house but then it'll be in my driveway under a tarp until its stripped.

always keep the cars documentation

when you go transfer the title you can just say the car is junk or a gift with no price paid for it to save the tax

better to pay the minimal transfer fee then to have your neighbor report you cutting a car to pieces that if an officer comes to investigate you have no proof you legally acquired it
