Who has done the Rust-oleum paint job?

My daily driver is gonna be receiving the famous $50 Rust-oleum paint job. Anyone that has performed the paint job, please chime in on your results as well as how well the paint held up.

From the research that I did, seems like this paint is very durable and can last as long as any professional job, provided it was done correctly.

Also, for anyone that has done the paint job, did you add any flex solutions to the bumpers to keep the paint from cracking? I can't seem to find any info on this.

edit: I will be spraying the paint. Not rolling it on.

A copuple people off my fiero forum (me being one of them). Some i'v seen turn out really good others (like mine) Turned out really bad (did mine while drunk with some friends) I'v seen a few fiueros with it at shows and due to what the body's are made out of it turned out really nice if done right. I saw one that i would swear was a show quality job but done with a rattel can (this dude was really good though and did it as a challenge) Its almost all in
1 your prep work
2. how steady your hands are.

again i did mine while drunk and you cant beat my masking jobs while drunk but my paintjobs are fair game. I have since than gotten the car profensionaly painted. and switches out all the pannels i screwed up.

I am going to be spraying the paint. Not rolling it. Guess I should have added that to my first post.

Anyway, what did you use for flex? I know you were wasted and everything, but I'm just curious. lol.

i did a couple cars. i sprayed it with a hvlp gun. it sucks. it dries so slow. and it literally never dries completely because there are no hardeners in it.

it also absorbs other colors (the exhaust on the white civic gave the paint a slightly brown tint over time.

but it is cheap. and it is durable. and its super easy to touch up.

i know you want it to be cheap and durable, but you're already going through the process of spraying it so why not just buy some cheap single stage paint? $100 will probably get you a gallon of paint and it's real automotive paint.

for the life of me i can't understand the fascination with this rustoleum paint job thing. it's such a waste of time.

if you have an air compressor and a decent gun, just buy real paint. If you know what your doing, you dont even need a gallon to spray

I actually used it on the INTERIOR of my hatch. The cage is painted with a brush, the rest was sprayed with a cheapo gun from Lowes. Nothing really fascinating about it, it looks decent from a distance and in pictures but honestly there's nothing nice about it. However, being the interior, I beat the hell out of it and its' held up half decent all things considered. It's not a show car so it doesn't bother me.

However, for the exterior, even for a DD, nah. Wouldn't waste the money or the time.
