RallyAmerica doesn't allow alcoholic anything at the stages anymore... they didn't used to care (actually, that was back when these were still SCCA Rally events)... that's cool by me really, since it makes the crowds a lot more obnoxious.
This year at STPR even, they did away with night stages because apparently some guy decided that it would be a good idea to run a stage in his pickup truck at night... drunk... with his bed full of teenagers with bb guns...
I don't think anybody got hurt, but because of stupid crap like that, they're starting to be more and more strict on the rules. like I said before, you used to be able to hang out anywhere and spectate... now they have caution tape up and specified spectator areas... all because some guy (again, drunk I believe) decided to wander out in front of a rally car and got himself killed.
rules are lame.
however, you're welcome to go hang out in one of the local bars or whatever in the evening... they're usually full of rally fans... and if you're a subaru guy, keep your eyes open, Rally events are huge among the subaru crowd (seriously, probably 2 in every 3 cars is a subaru), and they often have meets somewhere nearby.
Next year, maybe we should all meet up in the Dunkin Donuts lot or something in Wellsboro and have a bit of a TST meet type thing... see how many people show up.
