Well your civic is an economy car with about 1/2 the amount of moving parts..
FYI that gas pedal was the only one known to ever have that happen, and I believe mitsubishi does not do injection molding either. I've always been surprised at the quality of the mitsubishis that were built and assembled in Japan, as only about 10% are anymore..
