Since when does low dyno numbers mean that there an oil pressure issue?? That shouldn't have thrown up a red flag to check the bottom end.
It all sounds like excuses to me. Noone to blame except for the guy who handed the keys over to the customer with a used oil pump in a brand new forged motor.
