it is generally cheaper to fix a manual trans. less moving parts, and for the most part, you get a lot more mileage out of a manual. its cheaper to replace a clutch than it is to rebuild an auto. but good luck selling a manual car thats not popular. every time i get my hands on a decent automatic daily driver i get a line of people trying to buy it off me. and im so sick of driving manual every day since i drive for a living. i guess its really more about what you prefer. and most people prefer autos.
