But the design, which I assume you mean the GUI appearance, isn't anything special. I have an object dock on my XP machine that kicks ass.

yeah i was talking about the GUI, all together, but the simplicity of the dsktop to be specific. i believe that it has more of a basic and user friendly layout. different things such as u can have 2-16+ desktops to work on (16 was the highest i went to i havent tried to go further), a button you can press to hide the icons on the desktop, the dashboard (which i only use for the weather). i just think it is cleaner all together. if i took away this window, all i see is the top menu bar and the background.
