That point aside, a home security doesn't ensure that police will arrive in the matter of seconds that it takes for a life to be taken. In fact, if you look at the average response time for most area's, well, you get the point. There's a site out there that lists some of them though, but if I remember correctly, suburban area's average response time is about 5 minutes.
