You handled that very well I would say.
The MG on the tag here in NJ means that it belongs to the Municipal goverment I would guess it was an "unmarked patrol car".
Who know what he was thinking since he did not try to pull you over you'r probably right.
If your ever pulled over by an unmarked car drive to a well lit public place ( gas station, 711 store, Dunkin Donut shop) or keep driving and call 911 to be sure you being pulled over by a real officer. If your charged for eluding be sure to fight it in court. I sure once you explain yourself there will be no charge. better safe then sorry.
