its a long ang grueling process to do it the correct way (purchase vehicle in japan, ship it over here in parts (bumpers, seats, engine, etc removed) then reassembly. then getting everything registered with a custom vin plate for that state (need to pass us emissions and safety stardards, etc). He actually traded his new si for it with some guy on honda-tech who i believe lives in utah.
you can also import a car, then purchase a usdm counterpart (salvaged, etc) and do a vin swap. this is alot easier to do but im not 100% sure if you still have to go through with passing the us safety standards.
