The more and more I see stuff from FN the more and more I want one. Someone find me a FiveseveN. Its just sucks the local range doesn't allow their ammo to be shot there. The owner is an anti-FN guy. I was talking to the dude at the counter today and he was saying someone of the lobbyist trying to outlaw the 5.7x28mm ammo and the guns that use them. Don't they make a non-armor piercing round in that caliber?
No, I didn't sell the AR, and I am just going to hold on to it. I wanted a different gun, but I figure that I'll just hold off until I can comfortably afford to do so, without sacrificing any of my current guns.

FiveseveN's are all over the place, the problem with them is not only are they expensive initially ($800+ min), but ammo is expensive ($20-$30 for 50 rounds).

Your local range probably won't let you shoot it because it's a handgun range, and most handgun ranges won't allow cartridges that have super high velocities (out of the fiveseven, the velocity is almost 2000fps). It's the same thing as shooting .17, most indoor handgun ranges won't allow it.

The only true level III armor piercing out of the fiveseven is the SS190, it's no longer imported, nor is it sold by FFL's. It's also going for over $300/50 rounds (no misprint). Out of the P and PS90, the SS195, which is still available and cheap, is easily capable of piercing level III (but so can many rifle cartridges).

There is talk of people trying to ban the SS195 ammo as they did the SS190 and comparable rounds (the SS197 is just sporting), but no true movement has been made. It's do to the simple fact that out of rifles, many rounds are armor piercing, and more effective than the 5.7x28. However, my local shop, Claytons, refuses to sell it's leftover many thousands of rounds of SS195. Thankfully Tanners still sells/stocks the cheapest out there. ($20/50 rounds)
