As for what a saab can handle, the 9-5 aero can handle 300 bhp (the pistons are weaker than the old 9000) on bone stock internals, the pistons being the weak point as they're not forged. Swap them for forged pistons and the stock rods will take you to around 450 - 500 bhp. From there it's forged rods and the engine can take whatever you can throw at it, stiffer springs and mechanical lifters if you wanna spin it to 8-9K.
The older 9000 (B234) can handle 400 hp bone stock with 200K on it. We're tuning my friend's 9Kwith 190K on it up to 300hp real soon.

This one is producing 850 whp.
Oh and Maptun is a saab tuning company, they did the tune, not built the engine. It was probably pistons, maybe rods, injectors, bigger fuel pump, and cams off a 9000.

i have heard of maptun but when the description of engine and powertrain mods lists all maptun stage 7 parts that makes me think fully forged internals if you want to get a 2.5 to make 600 + its better internals, cams and turbo and injectors and other obvious supporting mods that guy is pushing 500 whp on a fully built motor whereas a stock 2.5 can do almost the same with stock internals
