Twincharger Concept Pic

I was reading up on twinchargers earlier today and I came across this...

I've seen the Turbo/Supercharge Twincharge setup work through the use of valves...but I'd never seen a 2 in 1 setup.

For those of you who don't quite get the image...One compressor works as both a supercharger and a turbo...the shaft from the turbo is connected to the engine crankshaft which causes it to work like a supercharger at lower RPMs and then when the turbo spools it overrides the rotations from the engine with the use of a freewheel, similar to that on your bicycle pedals, turning it into a full fledged turbo.

Has anyone ever seen/heard of a similar setup...and do you think it would work?
