Call your local police and tell the the situation and see what they say...honestly thats your best bet, they will tell you if it is legal or not and more than likely they will be cool with it if its only 5 mminutes and your reasoning...
You could also just driv therewith your 4-ways on and I don't think they would pull you over...just act dumb if they pull you over and say you are taking it to a shop because your mufflers bearings are bad and your hood won't fit...
