damn that article is old.

The RIAA already sued and won this case. Just as Kazaa went down and Napster. They have been monitoring the user database for some time now. So it hasn't been safe for almost a year.

For you BT guys who think it's safe, it's the most unsafe P2P service going right now. The RIAA has been monitoring it since the fall of suprnova.org. Verizon actually logs anyone using BT and if you don't know, the owner of BT sold out and is working with the RIAA and MPAA. He already sold part of the rights to the MPAA. Which is why there are so many decentralized, invite only torrent groups now.

If you are on a college network (i.e. dorms), don't even bother. You'll get nailed. Colleges don't want it on their network because they get sued and it destroys the bandwidth. My college had 14 kids since the start of the semester get letters and have their internet access turned off.

Private monthly fee newsgroups, private torrent groups, and offshore IRC groups are all that is left.
