Microsoft does have a 1 year warranty on it as long as you are the first owner and you have a receipt. I purchased my first 360 on EBAY on release day (and no, it didn't come with vasoline) and recently my power brick fried due to the house getting hit by lightning. Because I didn't have a receipt and couldn't prove the warranty was valid, I had to purchase another console. Homeowners insurance covered the new 360, so I have two working Xb360 consoles and 1 working power brick.
