What??

"If you don't go to a four year college after high school, you are drafted. if you drop out of highschool, you are drafted."

So, if mommy and daddy can afford to send you to college, you DON'T have to risk dying for your country? Only the middle class and lower income folks should be put to that task? Holy crapola.

Also, technical training schools are left out of an equation like that - drop $30k, out of pocket on a UTI or ACT degree....mommies and daddies don't send their kids to UTI or ACT...it's out of pocket and student loans for those young folks...and get drafted because you're not part of the college crowd?

That is so wrong in so many ways.

I was stationed in Greece - every male serves 2 years, no ifs, ands or buts. 2 years, and the only choice you have is when during your 18th-25th birthday you want to join up. Your parents have to support you, bring your food, buy your clothes, and everything else, invcluding take your uniforms and do your laundry. You get the US equivalent of $10 a month.

There is no choice in Israel, either, and young men aspire to go into their military from very young ages.

I'm sorry, but the whole idea of "go to college or go into the military" sounds like it comes from a rich kid who had his hot rod bought by the parents and is riding through college on a dream. Must be nice - I'll tell you about my upbringing some day, and where I've served.
