The sub doesn't know what side of it is enclosed so it just thinks it's in a box, not running freeair. If you do run the subs inverse like that you need to reverse the leads (reverse the positive and negative) as well or it will sound off. Other than looks all that reversing the subs will do is increase the effective enclosure size but the subs displacement. I have to agree though, running two different subs on the same amp is not a good idea, also if those subs are in a shared volume enclosure expect to damage one/both of them.
