I was checking out that masterbuilt unit at HD for $90, you could probably replace the element and cord with the smoke hollow replacement element kit which is $50. but at that point your only saving like $30 over a brand new one.

For $30 I'd rather just get one out of the box that doesn't need anyithing. I bet if you taked to HD and told them that they would take a good chunk more off the price.
