I've had one person in my family do the deed. But he had brain cancer and it was getting worse and worse so I can understand the reason, though there are better ways than using a gun he wasn't all there anymore.
Other than something terminal like that, suicide is really the cowards way out. I have no respect for someone that attempts, or succeeds in ending their own life due to external problems in their life. (internal is another story, specifically if it is not something that can be battled, mental disorders CAN be battled)
