I'd say a big rog-o-negative on that one. The oil will probally seep from behind the mating surfaces and break any bond that the rtv will have with the metal.
If you want to give it a go, clean the hell out of with 2+2, brake clean sucks since they changed the formula...use the honda "grey"/ultra grey RTV, that stuff is the bomb diggitty.
Doing it from the outside is probally just going to create a mess that will make resealing the pan rigth more of an ordeal.
Just set aside some time, and take it off. Follow the torque specs to a t, and use rtv.
