Went to launch, it wheel hopped a little and that was all she wrote for my amazingly shifting trans that I have had in the car for over 4 years, cracked the case and everything
I just got another used AWD trans for 250, just took it apart to pull out the center diff to get welded so I can avoid this type of catastrophic failure again in the future. It sucks though its gonna make it a bitch to drive with no powersteering and a heavy ass ACT2900. But I guess its all just a part of going fast
Maybe I will hit up elite JDM if I cant source an already welded diff for a decent price, That guy at Elite does he preheat it before he welds it? Reason for the preheating isn't to get good penetration, it is because the gears are heat treated and if you just start welding on them without slowly preheating them, you heatshock the gears and it compromises strength in the long run.
