it costs hundreds of your parent's money to build an army suitable for most games. match ups are point based and you spend points to field models. 1500 point games i think are pretty much common now... used to be 2000.
it generally costs around... $30-40 for a single squad though... and some armies are capable of fielding 6 squads.

I've always been a space wolf or ork player. wanted a nurgle marine army though but had issues painting "messy"
