Here's a check list from evans tunings website, RT has a similar check list. The reasons these shops with years of experience have these list is because they also know that a blown engine can happen even if the tunes perfect.

Well, perhaps I should be a little more detailed. I was riding with the tuner....he did some tuning...we heard a loud bang and I said what the hell was that? And he said I think I hurt your motor. Then my engine blew completely a half hour after that. Is that conclusive enough for you guys?
