Novice groups eventually get passing privileges but with a point-by only and only in designated spots (front straight, back straight). There are normally 15-25 novice cars on track at a time, spread out. Every novice has an instructor in the passenger seat every session until the instructor signs you off as being solo ready--this usually does not happen on the first day if you are total rookie.
SCCA PDXs are an excellent way to get familiar with high-speed driving techniques. Definitely worth the money! Hope to see you out there.

Thanks for the info. I may get some seat time under my belt first at some SOLO events but this is a must do for me in the very near future.
