Only point I'd like to add here is that you should ALWAYS ALWAYS test whatever JHP defensive ammo you plan on using in your pistol to make sure it feeds reliably. For example, for some reason my XD45 doesn't like hornady JHPs. The hollowpoint hangs up on the feed ramp about 2 or 3 rounds per mag. Obviously, this would be a ****ty thing to have found out in the middle of a gun fight.
When you decide which defensive JHPs you're going to carry run at least a few boxes of them through your gun to make sure they don't cause any malfunctions before relying on them to defend your life.
