The "next level" I was referring to isn't really a quantitive thing as much as a state of mind.
In times past the industry and scene was full of those who weren't afraid to push the envelope and do things differently. Those people built cars as functional pieces of art - uncompromising in the pursuit of both the "perfect" form and "perfect" function. Those people and cars seem to have faded away as the scene evolved now is over populated by cookie-cutter cars. Cars lack the soul, the meticulous work, the care that people once had.
Now everyone makes fun of those who splurge on expensive parts, non-functional modifications and anything that differs from the norm. The general concensous of most people seems to fit into the categories of the "go fast", "look good", "be slammed" etc etc and have no interest in anything outside of their tastes. This is disappointing.
In any case - I do not wish to start an arguement, just state a fact.
I hope to someday create a rolling monument to my tastes, and I hope you do the same.
