Beat me to it. If there is an RX-9 I'm sure it will share design cues from this car but this isn't an RX-8 replacement.

Kind of like how subaru released their sedan at the LA show that isn't said to be a specific model (though it looks like it could be very closely related to the next impreza/wrx), but rather shows off future design language.
