I'm a Subaru sales rep.
I tell people ALL THE TIME that their trade has diminished value due to a bad carfax. Depending on when & where the case is I'll be happy to explain the situation that comes up whenever a car with a dirty carfax shows up. I don't need any cash for hooking up a fellow TST member either.
We even have a generic form that we fill out for customers to send to ins. companies explaining the diminished value of a vehicle based on internet guides such as KBB,NADA & Edmunds as well as true market value and ACV (actual cash value) based on Manheim auto Auction pricing.
Anyone who sells cars can tell you what it feels like to run a carfax on a decent trade & see FRAME DAMAGE highlighted. It kills the deal 75 percent of the time in my experience.
