Basically a WRX wagon with subtle sheetmetal changes and MUCH nicer interior. Moonroof & stability control too, I think.
GM had shares of Fuji Heavy Industries.
Subaru got GMs Stabilitrak system now called VDC by Subaru.
GM got a turn key platform to try & boost the Saab lineup.
Pop the hood on one & it says Fuji Heavy Industries on the Id. plate, plus the ignition is on the steering column instead of the middle of the car like a "Real" Saab.
I love the Saabarus when they're modded. You don't expect them to do what they can do.....

This...
2005-2006 were the only two years that the 9-2X was made. The Aero trim was the turbocharged engine shared with the WRX, the Linear trim was a 2.5L NA engine shared with the 2.5RS. In '06, the Aero went from 2.0 to 2.5L, but that was also the year that GM sold the Subaru shares, and FHI said no more. So sadly, no more Saabaru... All said, there were only ~10,000 9-2Xs ever made.
