You can definitely tell the difference between an animal raised with its litter and one that has been orphaned. I rescued a one week old kitten from a parking lot who hadnt went through the social behavior phase of being with a litter and could never break her of biting. Word to the wise, always let your pup / kittens get some social interaction before bringing them home, it'll save you a lot of torn up fingers.
