I totally and 100% see where you're coming from. It's a reasonable position. However, respect goes both ways. IMO, it is just as disrespectful for you to ask someone to change their carry method as it would be for someone to open carry at an event against the organizer's wishes.
BTW, I have never met an OCer who chooses to carry that way in order to "flash it around". For most it's a matter of comfort and ease of access.
