I have a friend who has 225,000 miles on his and it looks and runs as new..
This is his car..He maintains it very well but I was mistaken it has 222,222 miles on it..These pics are current and untouched or shopped..
Now the M70 motor in the 850 is rated at 300hp, with chips from Germany you can get that to 337hp and remove the 155mph limiter.
Now back in the day Dinan took the STOCK engine slapped on TT's and got 525hp/600fptq.. I have another friend who has a Stg III Dinan TT (stroked to I believe 5.7litre like the Alpina 850.) That car has 625hp/660fptq.
The good thing on the 850 is that the engine was made for forced induction, didn't know that did ya?. Low compression with all forged internals all housed in an aluminum block and heads. There's a member on another board I'm a Mod on who offers a S/C kit that gets you around 475/500hp and it's really in expensive, something like $6/$7K..
This is an Alpina, it had alot of engine mods and a special hood that they won't sell unless you can verify by a vin# you own one.. I'm having them reproduced for some friends who have 8 series cars.. Alpina want's close to $10K for one of theirs..No thanks, I can have it made for $1300.00
This my friends Stg II TT.. He just handed a new ///M5 his ass the other day
So now you know a little bit more on the E31.
Oh and when you hit 93mph the windows go up by themselves for aerodynamics
If the engine detects any trouble it will shut the side that's having problems down and the car will go into a safe mode. There's so many things this car has that's just coming out now..
Hands free phone in '91?
Fly by wire throttle.
The list goes on..
