Oh boy...

Masters in psych unfortunately does not do a whole lot.

It'll take a PhD or a PsyD to get anywhere near a decent living or job that doesn't make you go crazy yourself.

If she really wants to work with kids she should get a teaching cert and do special ed. Better pay, better benefits, better job security. Teaching is tough these days but special ed is ok.

Like Chris above I gave up the psych route as well and did a career change before investing too much--unfortunately the market is saturated with psych degrees--too many people have been using that as a scapegoat major when they couldn't figure out what to do. While it sounds like your fionce really has the motivation however there's a lot of competition making the salaries abysmal.

BTW thanks for the crank the snow holding up my mailbox is almost gone going to have to get cracking using it soon or it'll fall over!
