It's funny you should mention that, because the automatics are dogs due to the THREE SPEED TRANSMISSION!!! The MTs are five speeds, and therefor far less slow.

Come on Jim, you should know this...
Torque Converters rob a lot of power. MT's don't have a torque converter, so more power to the wheels.
Then you look at gearing. AT's are typically taller to account for less gears.
