I know I'm really late but why not a 50mm for food? I used my sigma 50 and I thought the shots turned out pretty good with natural lighting inside of the restaurant.. Now that I think about it, a lens with a longer focal length would be a hassle.. I had to take pictures while they were open and serving people so I don't think they would be happy with me taking up other seats or in the isle.. Here is a sample of what I took btw,


I tried going down below f/2.0 but found that the DOF was waaay to small to look good.. I think most of my pics were taken at f/2.8 or higher..
