It really just isn't worth that much to most people who will rather put the money into a prestigious car name rather than a Lexus or Acura or GM or whatever.

You can put carbon brakes and 500hp into a Civic but you can't sell it for 130K. Just what I think.
Well, Lamborghini put some crazy bodywork on a "regular" Murceilago, added 700,000 to the price and called it a Reventon. They sold out before the car was even commissioned.

The Ford GT is an interesting case too. Original msrp was about 120k. Ford feared they would alienate customers and the car would flop with a higher price tag, even though it performs as well as, if not better than many, more expensive exotics. When they arrived at dealerships, customer interest pushed the price up another 100k, and they still sold.

So can Lexus sell an amazing performing exotic for 400k? Yep. If the car is crap they would have trouble, but they did their homework. They had test mules as early as 2004. It's been around the Nurburgring 100s, maybe 1000s of times. You better believe for 400k and 6 years in the making this car will be great....and it's mad JDM, yo.
